gavel-moreOMAHA, Neb. (AP) — A 45-year-old man has been given two years of probation for the hit-and-run crash death of a pedestrian in Omaha.

Mark Fleming was sentenced Wednesday in Douglas County District Court. He’d pleaded no contest and was found guilty of misdemeanor vehicular homicide.

Police say 76-year-old Roy Yeck was hit as he was trying to cross North 30th Street shortly after 1 a.m. on Jan. 30.

Fleming turned himself in to police later that day. Fleming apologized to Yeck’s family during Wednesday’s sentencing hearing.
