LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has issued health advisories for lakes at four state recreation areas.
Tests last week by the state Department of Environmental Quality detected high levels of toxic algae at Rockford Lake in Gage County, Swan Creek Lake No. 5A at Willard L. Meyer Recreation Area in Saline County and Pawnee Lake in Lancaster County.
Elevated algae levels were recorded throughout the summer at Willow Creek Lake in Pierce County, but levels were within the normal range during the most recent round of testing. A health advisory remains in effect there until Thursday.
Lake visitors are advised to avoid full-body contact activities such as swimming, wading, skiing or jet skiing.
