NPCC Lady Knight Volleyball Goes 2-2 overall at Jimmy Johns Tournament

NPCC Knights LogoThe North Platte Community College Lady Knights volleyball team continued to be successful against National Junior College Athletic Association Division II rated teams by defeating the Bismarck State College Lady Mystics three sets to two.

However, in the second match of the day they were defeated by Highland (Kan.) Community College Lady Scotties by the same score three sets to two.

In the first match, the Lady Knights defeated the 13th rated Lady Mystics by a score of 25-19, 17-25, 16-25, 25-18, 15-11.  The Lady Knights were led in kills by Valerie Most with 18 kills.  Most also had three total blocks, 22 defensive digs, three service aces and a .293 kill efficiency.  Megan Chintala had 23 defensive digs to pace the Lady Knights.  Chintala also had three set assists and one service ace.  Shelby Wolever led in set assists with 45 and had 11 defensive digs and two kills.  MaKenna Ketter ended up with 10 kills and Samantha Morgan had seven blocks.

In the second match against  the Lady Scotties, the Lady Knights were defeated in five sets by scores of 25-20, 19-25, 22-25, 25-22, 15-8.

Most once again led the Lady Knights in kills with 21 kills and 26 defensive dighs.  Jessica Lovitt ended the match with nine kills and five blocks.  The leader in blocks was Josie Palmer with six. Chintala contributed with 21 defensive digs and Aryn Meisinger  had 17.

The Lady Knights ended the tournament with a 2-2 record and are now 12-17 on the season.  They return to action on Tuesday, October 13 when they travel to Norfolk to play Northeast Community College and then to Columbus on Wednesday to play Central Community College.

Their next action at home is October 20 when they face Northeastern Junior College.  It will be their final regular season home game and will be “Sophomore Night”.
