2nd McCook Man Gets Probation for Theft, Shooting of Heifer

gavel-moreMCCOOK, Neb. (AP) — Another McCook man has been given probation and ordered to help pay restitution for stealing and shooting an Angus heifer.

41-year-old Donald Slone Jr. was sentenced last week to 24 months of probation. He’d made a deal with prosecutors and pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of theft.

His sentence echoed one given his accomplice, 22-year-old Brandon Deater. The two were accused of shooting the animal in August 2014. Court documents say $3,000 in restitution has been paid to the owner of the heifer.
