ELIZABETH, N.J. (AP) — Two New Jersey day care workers accused of urging young children to fight as part of what one compared to the movie “Fight Club” are seeking probation through a program that could result in their charges being dismissed.
22-year-old Erica Kenny and 28-year-old Chanese White are each seeking acceptance into a pre-trial intervention program, available to first-time offenders. The charges are dismissed if the person completes probation.
Kenny and White have pleaded not guilty to child abuse charges.
Kenny also faces an endangerment charge after prosecutors say she recorded video of the Aug. 13 fights. In the video, she compares the fights to the 1999 movie.
The Union County prosecutor and the county public defender declined to comment.
