In Loving Memory of Ranae Sue Quimby
Ranae Sue Quimby, 42, of Thornton, CO passed away unexpectedly October 17, 2015 at her home. Ranae was born February 12, 1973 to Robert Howard and Ruth Kay (Fear) Quimby in North Platte, NE. She grew up in Sutherland, NE and was a proud graduate of Sutherland High School (class of 1991).
Following graduation, Ranae attended College at Colby Community College in Colby, KS. She continued her academic career at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work & Sociology.
Ranae worked as a social worker in Milwaukee, WI before moving to Denver, CO. Ranae continued her work in several different branches of government agencies, including her most recent position as a child care advocate and adoption case manager in Adams County Department of Human Services.
While in Milwaukee, Ranae began a lifelong partnership with Rod Moore. Rod and Ranae celebrated the birth of their son, Marcellous Taevin Moore, on December 3, 2000. They moved to Colorado in 2001.
Ranae was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sutherland, NE and former member of Sutherland 4H Clubs and Girl Scouts. She earned the recognition of Who’s Who in America High Schools in both Academic and Athletics.
She enjoyed all sports, but was a passionate Husker and Milwaukee Bucks fan. In later years, her favorite past time was spending days at the Sutherland Reservoir with family and friends.
Ranae was the strength of our family. Not only was she our families care taker, but she took on that role for her friends as well. No problem or issue was too big for her to handle or to try to solve. Every conversation with her family ended with her saying “I Love You”.
She was preceded in death by: her Grandparents, Joy and Lydia Fear; Howard and Anna Quimby; Mother-in-Law, Barbara Moore; Uncle and Aunt, Alfred and Ruby Molesworth and Uncle, Gene Anderson.
Ranae is survived by her husband, Rod Moore; Son, Taevin Moore; Parents, Robert H. and Ruth Quimby of Sutherland, NE; Sister, Ronda Quimby and friend, Mike Ross of Yakima, WA; Brother, Robert D. (R.D.) and wife Nancy Wortmann of Franktown, CO; Brother-in-Law, Brandon Moore and wife, Aryka; Nephew, Brandon Jr. and Alauna of St. Louis, MO, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to an educational memorial fund for Taevin Moore at:
