Myrna Christina Kohl age 95, longtime North Platte resident, departed this life to meet her Lord surrounded by the love of her family October 20, 2015 at Imperial NE. She was born March 11, 1920 in Kansas City, MO, where she was adopted at 6 weeks of age by her parents, Wallace and Caroline (Jespersen) Kohl. She grew up on the family farm in Ruskin, NE, during which time she was baptized. On September 4, 1943 she married her best friend and the love of her life, Erroll F. Kohl in Weber, KS. Shortly thereafter, Erroll was deployed with his Army unit to fight in WW II. She stayed behind on the family farm, near Wallace, NE, until his return after the war. She was an exceptional wife and loving mother to three children. Myrna enjoyed horses, gardening, camping and fishing. Her favorite pastime, however, was spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Sharon Kay; sister, Viola; two brothers Jerome and Andrew; and granddaughter, Judy Griffiths.
She is survived by daughter, Carol (Gary) Bell of Brady, NE; and son, Robert (Debra) Kohl of Champion, NE; grandchildren, Tracy, Christine, Shary (Lafe), Michael, Merleta (Joseph), Sandy (Rob), Tony (Stephanie), Paul (Janita), Lyndsey (Lane), and ShyAnn; 30 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-great-grandchild. She also has numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 23, 2015 at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens with the Reverend Janie Freeman officiating. Cremation was chosen, those wishing to sign the register book may do so 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. today at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
