Rev. Marlowe Dean Reinholdt, 82, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, October 22, at 8:00 PM at Great Plains Health after an eighteen-year battle with cancer.
Marlowe was born May 17, 1933 to Carl Arthur and Helen Astrud (Berlin) Reinholdt at his grandparents’ home in Slayton, Minnesota. He grew up on a farm near Balaton, Minnesota and graduated from Balaton High School in 1951.
Rev. Reinholdt accepted Christ as his personal Savior at the age of ten, after a fire burned the upstairs of his boyhood home. He loved music and helped his pastor with street meetings and radio broadcasts during his high school years. He was called to the ministry at the age of 18 during an evangelistic meeting in his home church.
Following high school graduation, he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree at Northwestern Bible College in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he met his wife, Marion Esther Abbas. They were married June 17, 1955 in Waverly, Iowa. He then attended Central Baptist Seminary receiving his Masters of Theology degree. Later he attended Luther Rice Seminary where he completed his course work for a Doctor of Divinity degree.
While in seminary, Marlowe worked as a Choir Director and Senior Citizen Director at Cypress Street Baptist Church in St. Paul, and Choir Director at the First Baptist Church of Hastings, MN. After graduating from seminary, he pastored six churches in the Midwest: Lakeside Baptist in Backus, MN., where he was ordained on April 10, 1962; First Baptist Church in Colfax, Iowa; Immanuel Baptist in Newton, Iowa; Lackland Road Baptist Church in Overland, Missouri; Pleasant View Baptist Church in Crawfordsville, Indiana; and North Platte Baptist Church in North Platte, NE.
For the past eight years, he has served as Chaplain at Linden Court where he held Sunday morning services every Sunday, and Linden Estates where he taught Bible classes two nights a week. He is survived by his wife Marion Esther (Abbas) of 60 years; three children: Marilynn (Jim) Hooks of Staunton, IL; Gregory of North Platte, NE; Carmen (Michael) Dawson of Richmond, VA; Grandson, Matthew (Brenda) Hooks of Mt. Olive, IL; three granddaughters, Ashley, Amber, and Aleia Dawson of Richmond, VA; two great grandchildren; Lauren and Benjamin Hooks of Mt. Olive, IL; two brothers: Raymond (Jeanne) Reinholdt; La Due Reinholdt; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Viewing for friends and family will be held Thursday, October 29th, during the day and the family will be receiving family and friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte, NE.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 30th at 10 A.M. at the Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte, NE.
