NPCC Lady Knights Travel to Norfolk to Play in Hawks Classic

npccThe North Platte Community College Lady Knights travel to Norfolk to play in the Hawks Classic on November 6-7.

The Lady Knights will face the Des Moines Area Community College Lady Bears on Friday, November 6 at 2 pm and the Iowa Lakes Community College Lakers on Saturday November 7 at noon.

The Lady Knights are 1-1 on the season after last week’s Hampton Inn Classic.   The Lady Knights have four players in double figures led by sophomore Sarah Mahr from Sidney with 13 points per game.  Freshman Mickenzie Brennan from Alliance, averaging 12.5 points per game; sophomores Djimonii Jackson and Maddie Seamann averaging 10.5 and 10 pooints respectively.

Five foot two inch sophomore Zulema Viescas leads the Lady Knights in rebounding grabbing 6.5 rebounds per game.

The Lady Bears  are 1-0 on the season after defeating Grand View University Junior Varsity 93-65. London Vais scored 21 points to lead the Lady Bears.  Vais was one of four Lady Bears to score in double figures.  Emily Knitel contributed 16 points while Cassie Geopfert and Kelsey Pretz, each scored 13 points.  Kiana Peterson grabbed 10 rebounds.

The Lakers are 1-0 on the season, defeating Northwestern JV 88-78.  Asiya Smith had 24 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Lakers.  Three other Lakers scored in double figures in the game:  Leara Blair scored 21, Lauryn Smith scored 18 and Jackie Petrich scored 13.

Lady Knights head coach Richard Thurin said, “The Iowa schools are always tough. Des Moines has four girls over six foot.  It will be a tough weekend for us.”
