The North Platte Community College Knights basketball team will host the Dodge City Community College Conquistadors on Saturday, November 21 at 7:00 pm at the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium.
The Knights are looking to avenge their only loss of the season. They lost to the Conquistadors earlier in the season 75-61 at Dodge City. Point guard Lorenzo Dillard scored 21 points and seven assists against the Knights in the game. James Newton finished with 20 points and five rebounds for the Conquistadors.
Dillard leads the Conquistadors in scoring at 18.6 points per game. Newton averages 13.3 points per game. Josh Boutte contributes 11.4 points per game to pace the Conquistador’s scoring. As a team the Conquistadors average 81.6 points per game while giving up 62.1 points per game. Boutte leads the Conquistadors in rebounding with 8.1 rebounds per game.
The Conquistadors are 7-1 on the season with their only loss coming to Trinity Valley 82-80. Trinity Valley is ranked 11th in the preseason National Junior College Athletic Association Division I basketball poll.
The Knights enter the contest at 5-1. They are averaging 91.5 points per game and allowing 65 points per game.
Tim Wagner leads the Knights in scoring with an 18.7 average. Wagner also averages 5.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. Diontae Champion averages 17.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.
The third Knight to score in double digits is Tyree Peter at 10 points per game. Peter leads the Knights in rebounding with 9.7 rebounds per game.
The game is “Senior Citizen” night. All seniors 65 years of age or older will be admitted free into the game.
Also at the game, the name of the new North Platte Community College Knight mascot will be named. A contest has been going on through facebook to give the Knight a name. You can still vote until Friday, November 20.
