The North Platte Community College Lady Knights basketball team were defeated 54-51 by the Doane College Junior Varsity Lady Tigers on Sunday afternoon at the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium.
The Lady Knights led at the first quarter break 16-8. Mickenzie Brennan had seven points and Zulema Viescas hit a three-pointer during the quarter.
BreAsia Allison had a field goal to give the Lady Knights their largest lead of the game 28-16 with four minutes to play in the half. The Lady Knights went into the break leading 30-20.
In the beginning of the third quarter the Lady Tigers went on a 16-6 run to tie the score at 36. The Lady Knights rallied to finish out the third quarter leading 40-39.
In the fourth quarter, there were three lead changes and three ties. The Lady Tigers went ahead for good with two minutes to go in the game.
The Lady Knights were led in scoring by Sarah Mahr with 14 points. Brennan finished with 10 points as the only other Lady Knight to finish in double figures. Brennan recorded a double-double with 10 rebounds.
The Lady Tigers were led in scoring by Hershey High School graduate Maegan Hiatt with 16 points. Former North Platte High School player, Jessy Hunt, added 13 points. Julia Reed had 10 points and Nicole White had 10 rebounds.
The Lady Knights are now 4-3 on the season and in action next when they travel to Sterling, Colorado to face Northeastern Junior College.
