PLATTSMOUTH, Neb. (AP) — A 30-year-old Grand Island woman has been convicted of two charges stemming from a fatal hit-and-run collision on Interstate 80 in eastern Nebraska.

Mandy MacDonald pleaded no contest on Monday to misdemeanor vehicular homicide and a felony count of leaving the scene of an injury accident. Prosecutors had lowered both charges in return for MacDonald’s pleas. Her sentencing is set for Feb. 9 in Cass County District Court.

Authorities say MacDonald lost control of her car on May 31 near the I-80 Greenwood exit and collided with another westbound vehicle. That vehicle ran into a roadside ditch and rolled, ejecting its driver, 50-year-old Kristin Olson, also of Grand Island.

Authorities say MacDonald fled but was stopped by a state trooper a few miles west.
