Greta S. Mueller beloved wife of 35 years and devoted mother of 4 amazingly successful and wonderful children, passed away peacefully in her sleep while visiting family and grandchildren in North Platte the morning of November 24, 2015.
Greta was born in 1958 in North Platte, NE, to Robert Eugene Sr. and Kathryn Ann (Duryea) Roeder. She resided in Maxwell, NE, Ashland, NE and currently in Lincoln, NE. Her three grandchildren, who meant the world to her, accompanied her to Disneyland and the beaches of California one month prior to her passing. Greta was passionate about all things beautiful in this world to include her love of flowers, specifically hydrangeas, antique shopping and gardening. She enjoyed working as a caregiver for many in the Omaha/Ashland area and cared for her mother and father in their last months of life. She had a love for exquisite arts, crafts and shadow boxes that she created for her friends and family; and most recently, amazing home decorating in which she was fully engaged the last months of her life at her home in Lincoln. Her pets were her constant companion wherever she went, including Lucee, her adorable 4 lb. Yorkie and her favorite parrot, Harley. Greta was a very strong individual having served her family and country bravely when her husband Darrell voluntarily deployed to Baghdad, Iraq for over two years in 2007 and 2011, to engage the global war on terrorism. Following Darrell’s last combat tour they renewed their wedding vows in Las Vegas on 12/12/12 to celebrate 31 years of marriage.
Greta is survived by her husband Darrell who serves as a Nebraska State Park Superintendent; four children, Trinity (Buck) Mueller of Maxwell, NE, Ashley (Darrin) Reeves of North Platte, NE, Taylor Mueller of Ashland, NE and Ivy Mueller of Omaha, NE; 3 grandchildren, Macie, Delanie and Gunner Reeves; sister Sheri Ramirez of Lincoln, NE; brother Bob Roeder of Paris, France; as well as numerous nieces, a nephew and two cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Kathryn Roeder; and in-laws Don and Ann Mueller.
A memorial to the family has been established to be placed at the Sunken Gardens in Lincoln, where she visited frequently during the last 5 years, as she lived just across the street.
