Walter Edward Woolson, age 92, of North Platte, NE, passed away at home on Saturday, November 28, 2015.
Walt was born September 16, 1923 to Francis A. and Mary L. Favinger Woolson in Philadelphia, PA. Walt joined the U.S. Army and served our country during World War II. When he returned from the service, he graduated high school and took a job inspecting radio towers. His job brought him to the Midwest where he met the love of his life, Ardith Ann Victor.
Walt and Ardith were married on July 17, 1954, in Wakefield, NE. They made their home in North Platte where Walt owned and operated a Farmers Insurance group from which he retired.
Walt was a member of the First Lutheran Church where he taught Sunday School and sang in the choir for many years. He was also a member of Platte Valley Lodge # 32 AF&AM and North Platte Shrine Club, and volunteered his time at many local organizations.
Walt is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Ardith, and son, Al Woolson, both of North Platte; 3 granddaughters; 7 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other family and his friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Mary; and four brothers, Robert, Richard, William and David.
As to Walt’s wishes, he donated his body to science. A memorial service and inurnment will be held at a later in Fort McPherson National Cemetery. Condolences may be shared at odeanchapel.com.
