Don E. Herbig, 88, of North Platte, passed away Nov. 28, 2015 at Great Plains Health. He was born March 15, 1927 to Roy F. and Mildred I. (Marler) Herbig at Aurora, NE. In September of 1950, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Mager and to this union two daughters were born, Peggy and Donna. On August 15, 1971, he was united in marriage to Dorothy L. Kelley and they made their home in North Platte. Don was employed as a mechanic for Mathew Chevrolet and the North Platte Cedar Bowl for over 28 years. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed working on cars, did some woodworking and volunteered at church. Don is survived by his daughter, Peggy I. (Rahn) Bek of Houston, TX; three grandchildren, Suzie (Ross) Wahlgren, Robin (Dan) Graves and Tim Sevier. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Dorothy in 2002; a daughter, Donna Sevier and a grandson, John Holbrook. Online condolences may be shared at www.carpentermemorial.com. A memorial has been established in his memory. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel. Burial will be at Plainview Cemetery near Maxwell. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements.
