NPCC Knights Basketball Host Lamar

npcc lamarThe North Platte Community College Knights basketball team will host the Lamar Community College Runnin’ Lopes on Saturday, December 5 at 3 pm at McDonald-Belton Gymnasium.

The game is a National Junior College Athletic Association Region IX South Sub-region contest.

Prior to the game, the name of the Knight mascot will be revealed.  Multiple names were suggested by students. The top three names were then voted on at the North Platte Community College facebook page to determine the name.

Also, the Special Olympics of the North Platte area will be recognized during the game.

The Runnin’ Lopes are 9-4 on the season.  They are averaging 93.4 points per game as a team while allowing 74.5 points per game

The Lopes have five players averaging in double figures led by Jiere Morrisey at 13.4 points per game.  Shafeek Taylor is right behind at 13.3 points per game. Wayne Stewart is averaging 11.4 points per game. Jon Dunmyer adds 10.8 points per game and  Chris Lewis averages a double-double at 10.7 points per game and 10.2 rebounds per game.

The Knights are 6-3 on the season and 0-1 in the sub-region and are averaging 90.3 points per game and allowing 74.3 points per game.

Tim Wagner leads the Knights in scoring with 19 points a game. Dionte Champion is next in scoring with 17.8 points per game.  Tyree Peter is the third Knight in double figure scoring with 10.7 points per game.  Peter also leads the Knights in rebounding with 9.1 rebounds per game.
