The North Platte Community College Knights basketball team will be on the road this weekend when they play a couple of National Junior College Athletic Association Region IX South Sub-Region opponents, Western Nebraska Community College and Eastern Wyoming College.
On Friday, the Knights will face the Western Nebraska Community College Cougars at the Cougar Palace at 8:30 pm CST. The Cougars are 8-5 on the season and 0-3 in South Sub-Region play. They average 85.3 points per game and allow 72.9 points per game.
The Cougars are led in scoring by Phil Fayne at 12.4 points per game. Tyrell Williams and Chase Mason are the other two Cougars to average in double digits at 11.3 and 10.6 points per game respectively.
On Saturday, the Knights will travel to Torrington, Wyo., and play the Eastern Wyoming College Lancers at 5 pm CST. The Lancers are 6-7 on the season and 1-2 in Region IX South Sub-Region play. The Lancers score 80.8 points per game and allow 83.6 points per game.
Grant Olsson is one of three Lancers scoring in double figures at 15.4 points per game. The other two are Torrence Littles at 12.2 points per game and Tyler Owens at 10.2 points per game. Littles leads the Lancers at 6.7 rebounds per game.
The Knights are 7-4 on the season and 1-1 in South Sub-Region play. The Knights are scoring 88.1 points per game and allowing 74.7 points per game.
Tim Wagner leads the Knights in scoring with 19.5 points per game. Diontae Champion averages 17.7 points per game. Tyree Peter is just under 10 points per game at 9.9. Peter averages 9.2 rebounds per game.
