NPCC Lady Knights Defeat York JV

sarah mahrThe North Platte Community College Lady Knights basketball team defeated the York College Junior Varsity Lady Panthers on Friday Night 77-60 at the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium.

The win was the 200th win for Lady Knight’s Head Coach Richard Thurin at North Platte Community College.

The Lady Knights came out and jumped to an 11-3 lead. Mickenzie Brennan scored all of her eight points in the first half on three field goals, including two three-pointers.

The Lady Knights led at the end of the first quarter 24-7.

In the second quarter, the Lady Panthers cut into the Lady Knights lead by hitting three three-pointers and outscoring the Lady Knights 27-17 to cut the lead to seven 41-34.

The Lady Knights never trailed in the game, and outscored York in both the third and the fourth quarters.

The Lady Panthers were led in scoring by Kat Mosely with 16 points.  Kelcie Swink and Mikala Wilson each scored 10 points to be the only Lady Panthers to score in double figures.  Swink led the Lady Panthers with eight rebounds.

Suhmer Mitchell led the Lady Knights with 25 points on 11 field goals and going 3-for-3 from the free throw line.  Sarah Mahr had 23 points.  Djimonii Jackson grabbed nine rebounds.

The Lady Knights are now 6-4 on the season.
