OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Authorities say an armed man has surrendered peacefully after a six-hour standoff with Omaha police.
Officers were sent to a home in the Florence neighborhood around 3:30 p.m. Monday to check a report that someone was being held hostage. The officers found only the man, who was armed with a knife. Several times he threatened to harm himself, but he gave up without incident or apparent injury.
The man was taken to a hospital for mental health evaluation.
