Goodland, Kan. – The North Platte Community College Lady Knights basketball went on the road and split a couple of games losing to Fort Carson Army Base 75-58 and defeating the Northwest Kansas Technical College Lady Mavericks 78-75 this weekend.
In the Fort Carson game, Suhmer Mitchell led the Lady Knights with 18 points.
Against the Lady Mavericks, the Lady Mavericks outscored the Lady Knights in each of the first three quarters, 22-21. 22-20 and 19-15, but the Lady Knights outscored the Lady Mavericks 22-12 in the fourth quarter to gain the victory.
The Lady Knights are now 10-8 on the season. They were led in scoring against the Lady Mavericks by Sarah Mahr with 18 points. Djimonii Jackson was close behind with 16 points. Mickenzie Brennan added 12 and Mitchell finished with 10. Thomesha Wilson led the Lady Knights with eight rebounds.
The Lady Mavericks dropped to 14-8 on the season. Larnie Scheibner led the Lady Mavericks with 19 points. Kaysyn Chintala added 17 points. Juliet James and Shambrey Budd contributed 12 points. Scheibner had eight rebounds to lead the Lady Mavericks.
Lady Knights Head Coach Richard Thurin said, “Played pretty well in second half, tightened up defense, drove to the basket well and had great help off the bench.”
The Lady Knights return home on Tuesday, Feb 2 against this Lady Mavericks team. The night is designated as “Girl Scout Night”. All Girl Scouts, leaders and their families will be admitted free into the game. Game time is 7:30 pm. CST. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN Radio 1410.
