Nebraska Traffic Stop Leads to Marijuana Find; Maryland Man Arrested

POT-BUSTOMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Law enforcement officials in Omaha say they’ve seized nearly 30 pounds of marijuana and arrested a Maryland man who fled a traffic stop on foot.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy stopped a car late Wednesday night on Interstate 80 in Omaha. The officer says that during the course of the traffic stop, the 37-year-old driver from Landover, Maryland, fled and ran toward a residential area.

The man was found and arrested a short time later about 12 blocks away. Police say a search of the car turned up 29 pounds of marijuana in the trunk.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of intending to deliver marijuana, not having a drug tax stamp and obstructing an officer.
