North Platte —The North Platte Community College Knights basketball team will host the Laramie County Golden Eagles on Wednesday night February 10 at the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium on the South Campus of North Platte Community College.
The contest is an important game in the standings for the seedings in the National Junior College Athletic Association Region IX South Sub-Region. The top four seeds will host a first round game in the upcoming Region IX tournament.
The current standings in the South Sub-Region are:
11-1 Otero
8-4 Laramie County
7-5 North Platte
6-5 Trinidad State
6-6 Northeastern
5-6 Lamar
5-7 McCook
5-8 Western Nebraska
1-12 Eastern Wyoming
The Golden Eagles are 18-8 on the season. They are coming off a 90-88 win over Otero on Friday night. The Golden Eagles are led in scoring by Gavin Peppers who is averaging 18.0 points per game. He is currently fifth in scoring in all of Region IX. Iziah Sherman-Newsome is the only other Golden Eagle to average in double figures in scoring with a 11.2 ppg average. Dominik Heinzl leads the Golden Eagles in srebounding at 5.0 rebounds per game.
The Knights are 15-9 overall and are coming off a win against Western Nebraska on Saturday. Tim Wagner leads the Knights in scoring at 15.1 ppg. Diontae Champion is second on the team in scoring at 14.3 ppg. Tyree Peter averages 11.1 ppg and 10.4 rebounds per game. Leito Holloway is the fourth Knight averaging in double figures at 10.3 ppg.
