Darrell LeRoy Stack, age 90, of North Platte passed away February 15, 2016 at Great Plains Health. He was born April 28, 1925 in Tryon, Nebraska to Donald and Esther (Schipper) Stack.
Darrell graduated from Oconto Public Schools, entering the United States Army, serving in Italy during WWII. After his discharge in 1946, he returned to Oconto where he began ranching. On September 17, 1950 he married Joyce D. Wood in Eddyville, Nebraska. The couple continued ranching in the Oconto area, and later bought their own farm in 1960, which they continued until moving to North Platte in 1972. Darrell worked for various places in North Platte, but mostly at 6th Street Grocery Stores from 1975-1985.
Darrell belonged to the American Legion for many years. He enjoyed woodworking and making yard art and furniture with Joyce. He loved the Huskers, Atlanta Braves, and the KC Royals!
Survivors include his daughters, Rochelle (Larry) Fletcher and Patricia Porter all of North Platte; grandchildren, Travis Fletcher of North Platte, Teresa Evans of Dakota Dunes, SD, and Michael Porter of North Platte; great-grandchildren, Lainee Evans, Logan Evans, Rowan Fletcher, and Makena Porter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joyce; brothers, Delbert and Dale Stack; and an infant grandson.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home with Chaplain Robin Storer officiating. Burial will follow at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens with full military honors graveside. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
