McCook —The North Platte Community College Lady Knights basketball team fell to the McCook Community College Lady Indians 86-66 on Tuesday night.
The game started out with the Lady Indians scoring the first five points. The Lady Knights would score the next four points to make the score 5-4. That was the closest that the Lady Knights would get all night. At the end of the first quarter the Lady Indians led 23-17.
When the second quarter began the Lady Indians went on an 11-2 run to take a 34-19 lead, which opened up the game for the Lady Indians. Halftime score was 44-29.
In the second half the Lady Indians held the Lady Knights scoreless throughout much of the third quarter. The Lady Knights did not score until just under five minutes to go in the third quarter. At the same time the Lady Indians scored 10 straight points to lead 54-29. The Lady Knights were able to score 14 points in the third quarter, but the game was well out of hand with the score being 70-43 at the end of the third quarter.
McCook led by as much as 33 in the fourth quarter. The Lady Knights were able to cut the lead to 20 at the end of the game.
The Lady Knights finished the regular season at 12-14. Aljahnay Duncan led the Lady Knights with 14 points. Suhmer Mitchell finished with 10 points and 13 rebounds on the game. Thomesha Wilson also had 10 rebounds.
Sarah Mahr scored seven points, but moved into 20th place on the Lady Knights all-time scoring list. She is one point away from Courtney Widick at the number 19 place.
The Lady Indians are 27-3 on the season and were a perfect 6-0 in the Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference. Chante Church finished with a game high 29 points. Jovana Jovovic added 13 points. Church also pulled down eight rebounds.
The Lady Knights begin their postseason by traveling to Beatrice on Wednesday Feb 24. The winner of that game will advance to play Central Community College for the Region IX Division II championship
