North Platte – The North Platte Community College Knights softball team dropped a pair of games in the doubleheader against the Colby Community College Lady Trojans Sunday afternoon, 15-11 and 17-9.

In the first game, the Lady Trojans started out by scoring three runs in the first inning.  The Knights answered back with three runs of their own in the bottom half of the first.  Makenzi DeCrow had a two-run home run and Shelby Belloni added a solo home run.

The Knights took the lead 4-3 in the bottom of the third on a run by Jessica Jarvis.

Colby regained the lead in the top of the fifth by scoring five more runs to make the score 13-9.  The Lady Trojans added one run in each of the sixth and seventh inning to make the score 15-9.

With two outs in the seventh, Caroline Motis homered and Tara Crouch scored a run on a double by Jarvis to bring the Knights within four.

The Lady Trojans began game two with three runs to take an early 3-0 lead.

The Knights scored a run by Jarvis on a double by Belloni to cut the Lady Trojan lead to 3-1.

In the bottom of the second, the Knights scored five runs. A grand slam by Samantha Gill and a solo home run by Sara Villalobos accounted for the runs to put the Knights ahead 6-3.

In the fourth inning, Villalobos added her second home run of the game with a three-run blast that scored Motis and Jade Higgins to increase the Knights lead to 9-3.

In the top of the fifth, the Lady Trojans scored 14 runs to seal the second game win.  With the Knights leading 9-8 in the fifth, the Lady Trojans’ Angel Micculli hit a grand slam to put the Lady Trojans ahead 12-9.  The Lady Trojans scored five more runs in the inning.

The Knights are 2-11 on the season.  They will face Western Nebraska Community College in a doubleheader at the Wayne A. Dowhower Softball Complex on Wednesday, March 9.  Game times are at 3 pm and 5 pm. CST on ESPN Radio 1410.
