Alice I. Keime

On Saturday, March 12, 2016, Alice I. Keime, passed away at the age of 102, at her daughter’s home in Broomfield, CO. Alice was a longtime resident of North Platte but in recent years was living in Colorado with her daughter.

Alice was born October 5, 1913, to Will Ray and Rose Agnes Farrell Stegeman at Aurora, NE. She grew up in Chappell, NE and graduated from Chappell High School in 1931. Alice attended Kearney State Teacher’s College to earn her Teaching Certificate then taught for 10 years in Nebraska, teaching in the counties of Duel, Garden and Cheyenne.

On May 19, 1941, Alice was united in marriage to James Parkeson ‘Parkie’ Keime at St. Francis, KS and made their home on a farm south of Ovid, CO. In 1947 they moved to Maxwell, NE where Parkie farmed until 1954. The family later moved to North Platte and were members of the First Baptist Church. Alice worked as a seamstress at Schwesers for 32 years from 1954 to 1986.

Alice and James were married for over 55 years when he passed away in 1996. Alice then moved to Hastings, NE, in 1998 to be near her daughter, Marilyn; in 2004 she moved to Lincoln, NE, to live with her daughter, Barbara; and in 2011 she moved to Colorado to live with her daughter, Jane.

She loved to work in her yard and care for her flowers. Alice was a die-heart Nebraska Cornhusker fan all her life and loved to cheer for the Denver Broncos. She never thought she would live to be 100 but Alice did better than that when she set the family record for being the oldest living member at the age of 102 years, 5 months and 7 days. Over the years she was thankful for her good health and mind as well as her loving family and her many friends.

Alice is survived by her children, James (Bev) Keime, of Parker, CO, Jane (Ambrose) Trujillo, of Broomfield, CO, Marilyn (Denny) Bruntz, of Hastings, NE, and Barbara Kavan, of Lincoln, NE; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; seven great great-grandchildren; a brother, Bob Stegeman, of Sidney, NE; and other family.

Along with her husband, Parkie, Alice was preceded in death by their infant son, Jerrold Ray; great-grandson, Brady Kraft; son-in-law, Larry Kavan; parents, Will and Rose Stegeman; a sister, Mabel Brake; and brother, Bill Stegeman.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2016, at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore. Burial will follow in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore which is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may also be shared at odeanchapel.com.
