North Platte – The North Platte Community College Knights softball team swept Region IX Division II opponent Southeast Community College in convincing fashion on Tuesday evening 19-1 and 13-0.
In both games the Knights used big innings to put the games out of reach.
In the first game, after the Knights’ Jessica Jarvis scored a run in the first, the Knights sent 19 batters to the plate and scored 16 runs in the bottom of the second inning to take a 17-0 lead.
The Knights added two more runs in the third for the 19 runs.
Jarvis, Shelley Heredia and Tara Crouch each scored three runs in the first game. Makenzi DeCrow had a two-run home run in the game.
The Storm scored their only run in the game when Montana Lovett homered.
Sara Villalobos went the distance on the mound and got the win in game one.
In game two, the Knights started early by scoring 12 of the 13 runs in the first inning. DeCrow added another home run, her second of the day. Samantha Foster was on the mound in game two and got the win. Foster helped out her own cause by homering in the third inning and scoring three runs in the game.
The Knights are now 10-19 on the season and 5-1 in Region IX Division II play. They are in first place in the region.
The Storm drop to 11-13 on the season and 1-5 in Region IX Division II play.
The Knights are in action next on March 29 when they travel to Hastings to play the Hastings College Junior Varsity in a doubleheader. Game times are at 4 pm and 6 pm CDT.
