LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska corrections officials say another staff member has been assaulted at a state facility in Lincoln.

The attack reportedly took place around 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at the Lincoln Correctional Center.

The Department of Correctional Services says the inmate struck the employee without provocation after the employee told the inmate to leave the area. Nearby officers helped subdue the inmate and control the situation.

The staff member who was assaulted declined medical treatment. Another staff member who helped subdue the inmate was taken to a local hospital as a precaution and released.

The department is withholding all of the names until the investigation is complete. At least three other corrections staff members have been assaulted since March 1.
