Karen S. Blunt, 56, of North Platte, passed away April 10, 2016 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. She was born Dec. 13, 1959 to Garrell β€œRed” and Frances (May) Howell at McCook, NE. Karen graduated from McCook High School with the class of β€œ78”. On August 16, 1986, she was united in marriage to Douglas Blunt in McCook where they lived before moving to North Platte in 1993. She was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother. Karen loved making tie blankets for special occasions for friends and family. She headed many fundraisers for the Nebraska Kidney Foundation. She is survived by her husband, Douglas of North Platte; four daughters, Amanda (Tim) Murray of Bellevue, NE, Shannon Hudson of North Platte, Kelly (Dave) Stephen and Kimberly Blunt both of Hill City, KS; 11 grandchildren, Katelyn, Alise, Dalton, Drake, Jacob, Creighton, Carter, Olivia, Casey, Dayton and Addison; two great grandsons, Brody and Sylas; brothers, Kenny (Tammy) Howell and Tom Howell both of Grand Island, Bill (Kim) Howell of Hickman and Pat (Janice) Howell of Cambridge; many nieces and nephews and other relatives. Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 16, 2016 at the New Life Church in North Platte. Graveside services will be 3:45 p.m. at the McCook Cemetery in McCook. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 15, 2016 with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte, which is in charge of arrangements.
