OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — The family of a woman charged with the death of a 4-year-old girl has been issued an order protecting them from the dead child’s mother, who is accused of threating them.
The mother Chelsey Cook sought the protection order against Lakisha Morrow. Cook is charged with child abuse resulting in the death.
Morrow is the mother of 4-year-old Alicia Morrow, whose body was found in Cook’s unheated house in January. The two women had agreed that Cook would care for the girl.
In an affidavit for the protection order, Cook’s mother says Morrow angrily confronted her and another family member last month. The woman said Morrow yelled at her to call the police, because she wanted to go to jail and kill Cook.
