Lincoln – Nebraska junior Andrew White III has announced his intention to declare for the 2016 NBA Draft, but will not hire an agent, maintaining his college eligibility.

In January 2016, the Division I membership adopted Proposal No. 2015-32 that permits men’s basketball student-athletes to enter the NBA Draft and participate in selected pre-draft activities while maintaining eligibility for intercollegiate athletics.

White will put his name into the NBA Draft, making him eligible to be drafted. In addition, he will be able to start attending workouts scheduled by NBA teams on April 26 and is eligible to compete in the NBA Draft Combine, scheduled for May 10-15 in Chicago.  He will have until May 25th (10 days following the draft combine) to keep his name in or withdraw from the Draft and maintain his eligibility.

White, a 6-foot-7, 216-pound guard, earned honorable-mention All-Big Ten honors in 2016, as he averaged 16.6 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. White ranked among the Big Ten leaders in scoring (sixth), rebounding (15th) and 3-point percentage (fourth). White reached double figures in 28 contests, including a pair of 30-point efforts. He had a career-high 35 points, including six 3-pointers, against Penn State on Feb. 13. White also topped the Huskers with three double-doubles in his first season at Nebraska.
