NPCC Knights Split Doubleheader with McCook

npcc mccThe North Platte Community College Knights Softball team split a doubleheader with the McCook Community College Lady Indians Friday Evening, losing the first game 9-5 and winning the second game 11-8.

The split kept North Platte and McCook tied for the Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference lead.

In game one the Lady Indians scored in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead.  In the third inning the Lady Indians scored three runs to make the score 4-0.

Makenzie Decrow hit her first of three home runs of the day to cut into the Lady Indian lead to 4-1.

DeCrow added a two-run home run in the game,

Antonia Villani took the loss for the Knights in game one.

In game two, the Lady Indians got on the board first by scoring two runs in the first inning by Kendall Yasui and Angelica Evans.

The Knights scored three runs in the bottom of the first.  Jessica Jarvis opened up the Knights half of the first with a double.  Jarvis scored on a fielder’s choice by Samantha Foster. DeCrow added a two-run home run to make the score 3-2 in favor of the Knights.

The Lady Indians tied the game at three in the top of the second on a run by Alexis Ramirez.

The game remained tied until the fifth inning when the Knights Sami Gill and Sara Villalobos each scored a run to regain the lead 5-3.

The Lay Indians in their half of the sixth scored three runs to take a 6-5 lead.

The lead was short lived.  In the bottom of the sixth, the Knighs batted around and scored six runs to take an 11-6 lead.  Caroline Motis had a double in the inning contriburing to the six runs.

The Lady Indians rallied for two runs in the top of the seventh, but it was not enough..  North Platte High School graduate Jenny Keck doubled and scored on a two-run home run by Samantha Kalinski.

Foster went the distance in the circle for the Knights to get the win.
