Sharlyn “Sherry” Ann Martin, age 64 of North Platte, passed away at her home on Thursday April 28, 2016.
Sherry was born on October 19, 1951 in Abbott, NE to Elfert and Myrtle (Wing) Meyer. She graduated from North Platte High School with the class of 1971. She moved to Kansas City for a short while, working at the bus dept. She returned to North Platte where she worked for Municipal Light and Water. She managed Avis Car Rental for several years, and later went to work at Great Plains Health and also Walmart. On August 12, 1989 she married Wesley J. Martin in Lake Tahoe, NV. The couple made their home in North Platte. Sherry enjoyed NASCAR and stock car races, doing ceramics and country dancing. She loved her dogs, especially Bubba, Bucky and Bayle.
Sherry is survived by her husband Wes of North Plate; 4 stepchildren, Cindy Martin of Texas, Kenny Martin of Ft. Collins, CO, Karl Martin and Candy Stange both of Ft. Worth, TX; 4 siblings Phyllis “Arlynn” (Philip) Webster of North Platte, Lela (Pete) Pyzer of North Platte, Linda Cooper of North Platte, and Rick Meyer of Alliance, NE; 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; as well as numerous other family members and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather Beufard Gates; an infant brother Lynn Meyer; siblings Freddy Meyer, Mary (Walt) Woodward, Donnie Meyer, Carol Olson, Lorna McCarter; and in-laws Carl and Suzie Martin.

McPherson National Cemetery with Pastor Jeremy Rinke officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday May 3, 2016 with family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
