North Platte –North Platte Community College Lady Knights basketball player Zulema Viescas signed a letter of intent to play basketball for Friends University in Wichita, Kan.

Friends University is a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics college.

Viescas, from El Paso, Texas  was the starting point guard for the Lady Knights this season and was Honorable mention on the Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference basketball team.

Lady Knights Head Coach Richard Thurin said, “Zulema was vital to our program.  She was a floor general and shot the ball well from three point range.”

Viescas averaged 6.8 points per game, rebounds per game and 1.5 assists per game during the 2015-16 season.  She made 46 three-point shots at 32.9 percent.
