North Platte – Five of the North Platte Community College Knights softball team were selected to the Region IX Division II All-Region team for the 2016 season. Sara Villalobos, Jessica Jarvis, Samantha Gill, Samantha Foster and Shelby Belloni were each selected for the team. Villalobos along with teammates Makenzi DeCrow and Antonia Villani were selected to the All-Region IX Tournament team.
Villalobos, a sophomore from Skiatook, Okla. Is a two-time All-Region IX Division II and All-Tournament player. During the season, Villalobos hit .467 in 122 at bats and had eight home runs. Villalobos also had a 5.23 earned run average in the ring.
Jarvis, a sophomore from Littleton, Colo., was on the All-Tournament team in 2015. Jarvis had a .389 batting average and 32 stolen bases during the season.
Gill, a freshman from LaSalle, Colo., had a .439 batting average in 123 at bats and hit three home runs during the season.
Foster, a freshman from Frederick, Colo, batted .452 in 120 at bats with six home runs during the season. Foster led the Knights in the ring with a 4.01 earned run average and nine wins.
Belloni, a freshman from Wheat Ridge, Colo., led the Knights in hitting with a .476 batting average and had two home runs. Belloni also had 28 stolen bases during the season.
DeCrow, a sophomore from Fruita, Colo., led the team with 14 home runs during the season. The 14 home runs is a Knights single season record for most home runs in a season. DeCrow also led the Knights with 46 RBI and batted .458.
Villani, a freshman from Frederick, Colo., in 18 at bats had 10 hits for a batting average of .556. In the ring, Villani had a 4.45 earned run average with 15 strike outs.
The Knights finished the season with a record of 15-30.
