Applications to be taken for Nebraska big game permits

bull-elkLINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is opening this year’s application period for big game hunting permits early next week.

The commission will begin taking applications at 1 p.m. on Monday, and applications will be accepted through June 24. A person may apply for only one elk permit and one buck or either-sex antelope permit at that time.

Drawings for the permits will take place in early June, and residents will get preference over nonresidents.

Beginning on July 11, residents, nonresidents and eligible landowners may buy remaining deer and antelope permits, and residents and eligible landowners may buy remaining elk permits.
