LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Nebraska authorities continue to search for two inmates who escaped from a maximum security prison in Lincoln on Friday.
The Nebraska State Patrol says that 37-year-old Armon Dixon and 52-year-old Timothy Clausen — both convicted rapists — had still not been found by midday Saturday. The patrol says it and officials with local departments and the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services would participate later in the day in a news conference.
After a head count Friday afternoon, prison officials confirmed that Dixon and Clausen were missing. The search Friday focused on the Lincoln area.
Dixon is serving a virtual life sentence for the violent, armed rapes of two women in separate attacks in 2009. Clausen is serving time for first-degree sexual assault of a child and tampering with a juror.
