HARTINGTON, Neb. (AP) — Authorities say a South Dakota man has been fatally injured in a northeast Nebraska collision.
The crash was reported a little after 5:15 p.m. Sunday on U.S. Highway 81 in Cedar County, about 4½ miles south of Yankton, South Dakota. The Cedar County Sheriff’s Office says a northbound pickup collided with a van that was merging from the shoulder into northbound traffic.
The office says the pickup rolled several times, ejecting a passenger. He was pronounced dead later at a Yankton hospital. He was identified as 45-year-old Delwin Chavis, of Hudson, South Dakota.
The pickup driver was identified as 58-year-old Randyl Kruid, 58, of Hudson, and the van driver was identified as 64-year-old Andrea Sudbeck, of Fordyce, Nebraska.
