LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Authorities have released the names of two Lincoln officers who fatally shot a man suspected of shooting two women, killing one.
The officers were identified in a police news release Tuesday as Sgt. Mario Robinson, a 22-year veteran of the department, and Officer Josh Atkinson, who’s been on the force for eight years.
Police say the two confronted 22-year-old Germichael Kennedy, of Lincoln, around 9 a.m. Sunday and shot him when he pointed a handgun at them. Investigators think Kennedy fatally shot 20-year-old Marlene Rashidi and wounded 23-year-old Dezarae Mann as the two were sitting in separate cars around 3 a.m. Sunday.
Both officers are on paid administrative leave.
