Maxine May Sedlacek Williams, 91, of North Platte, passed away June 30, 2016 at her home with her family by her side. Maxine was born on May 31, 1925 to George Henry and Alma W. (Hake) Kamper in rural St. Libory, Nebraska. She grew up and received her education in Merrick, Nance and Hall counties. She married Edgar S. Sedlacek on March 30, 1944 at San Diego, Ca. While Mr. Sedlacek was in the Navy, she worked at Consolidated Vultee Aircraft in California. In 1946 she returned to Grand Island while her husband was overseas and worked at the Ordinance Plant. After his discharge in 1945 they lived in Lexington and Grand Island and later moved to North Platte, living there for the next 29 years. After raising her children, she was employed with W.T. Grant Co., Motel 6 as a desk clerk, Ben Franklin Store as a sales clerk and became a professional cake baker and decorator for 40 years. Mr. Sedlacek died September 15, 1981. She moved to Cody, Ne, helping her daughter run the grocery store there for 4 years. She returned to North Platte and worked at Walmart. She married Jay Williams on May 23, 1992 at Cozad, Ne. They moved to Grand Island in 1996. Maxine donated two birthday cakes each month at Lakeview Nursing Home from February 1999 to January 2006. She was preceded in death by her husbands; daughter, Gail Renee Potter and grandchildren Tina Marie McCall and Jason Michael Sedlacek, one brother and four sisters. Maxine is survived by sons, Stan ( Nancy) Sedlacek of Broken Bow, Ne ; Patrick (Eileen) Sedlacek of Cheyenne, WY.; Lynn (Beth) Sedlacek of North Platte; Lee (Janie) Sedlacek of North Platte; Gene (Marsha) Sedlacek of North Platte; Thomas (Merry) Sedlacek of North Platte. Daughters, Paula Sedlacek of Lincoln, Ne; Debra (Raymond) Kizer of North Platte, NE; twin daughters, Sandy (Brad) Jensen of Parker, Co and Suzy (Niles) Dodson of North Platte. stepchildren, Kristy Williams of Eustis, Ne; Jody (Benny) Cisneros of North Platte; sister, Grace Shutte of North Platte; 27 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, 2 step grandsons. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Burial will be at Ft McPherson following services. Rosary will be 10:30 a.m. prior to mass at the church. Family will be receiving friends from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, July 3. Visitation will also be on Monday, July 4, from 4-6 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel. Memorials are suggested to St. Patrick’s Endowment Fund, Catholic Daughters and Great Plains Home Health and Hospice in her name. Carpenter Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
