Officials reopen access points to Elkhorn River in Nebraska

elkhorn-riverOMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Officials say all Elkhorn River access parks in eastern Nebraska have reopened.

The parks have been closed due to high water in the river, causing potentially hazardous boating conditions.

The Papio-Missouri River Natural Resource District says in a news release that reopened access sites include Elkhorn Crossing near 252nd Street and Bennington Road; Graske Crossing, off West Dodge Road; and the West Maple Road site.

Recreationists are reminded that Coast Guard-approved personal floatation devices must be worn or present on all boats in the river. That includes canoes, kayaks and even inflatable inner tubes.
