AURORA, Neb. (AP) — An Aurora man accused of trying to hire someone to kill his wife will stand trial this fall.

The Grand Island Independent reports (http://bit.ly/29ZegEx ) that 38-year-old Robert Honken was arraigned Friday in Hamilton County District Court on two charges of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder. He stood mute during the hearing, and a not guilty plea was entered for him.

Police say Honken hired a man earlier this year to kill his wife, but that the man backed out. Police say Honken then tried to hire another hit man, who turned out to be an undercover officer.

Honken’s jury trial is set to begin Nov. 14.
