North Platte senior legion now faces elimination in the A7 district tournament following a 6-3 loss to Kearney on Monday night in Hastings. North Platte will play Hastings at 4 pm on Tuesday night in an elimination game. The winner will advance to play Kearney in the championship game at 7 pm on Tuesday night. If necessary, a second game will be played for the championship on Wednesday night.
In Monday night’s game, North Platte committed three first inning errors leading to a Kearney run. Kearney added a second run in the third inning. North Platte broke through in the fourth on an RBI single from Jace Barker to score Marcos Silos.
In the bottom of the fifth, Kearney had their first five batter reach base safely on their way to a three run inning and a 5-1 lead. Kearney made it a 6-1 lead in the bottom of the seventh.
North Platte attempted to rally back in the final two innings with a run in the eighth and another run in the ninth, both runs scoring on Kearney errors. North Platte finished the game with three runs on seven hits with four errors, while Kearney tallied six runs on 12 hits with two errors.
