LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — A Lincoln man who was given a rare chance with probation when he was 14 has been sentenced to prison for violating it by attempting to break into a business.
19-year-old Deanta Delarosa pleaded guilty in May to attempted burglary after he got caught trying to break into a business in July 2015. At the time, Delarosa was still on probation for a robbery he committed in December 2011.
On Monday, Lancaster County District Judge John Colborn revoked Delarosa’s probation, sentenced him to four to six years in prison for the original robbery and gave him another 18 months to two years for the new charge.
Delarosa already has credit for nearly two years in jail and will have to serve about 10 months before he’s eligible for parole.
