OSHA investigating worker’s fall in Nebraska Panhandle

OSHASCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (AP) — Federal safety officials have begun investigating a worker’s fall at a construction site in Scottsbluff.

The fall occurred at a Western Sugar Cooperative facility. Initial reports are that the worker fell through a floor opening on the second floor and was hospitalized.

The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration says the worker is an employee of DSI Mechanical. DSI is part of Sioux Falls, South Dakota-based Design Solutions & Integration.

DSI attorney Aaron Dean says DSI is investigating Wednesday’s accident and looks forward to cooperating with OSHA. He also says DSI employees have all completed 10-hour OSHA construction safety courses that include fall protection.

Dean says he can’t release the worker’s name but says he’s recovering at a Scottsbluff medical facility.
