BEATRICE, Neb. (AP) — A Beatrice woman who authorities said should have prevented a man from having sex with her teenage foster child has been given two years behind bars.
Thirty-four-year-old April Dils was sentenced Tuesday in Gage County District Court in Beatrice. She’d pleaded no contest to two counts of negligent child abuse after prosecutors lowered the charge.
Prosecutors say a friend of Dils’ boyfriend developed a sexual relationship with the 14-year-old girl when the friend stayed at Dils’ home after a night of drinking. The friend, 27-year-old Jose Salinas, in May was sentenced to 16 to 20 years in prison on his convictions for attempted sexual assault of a minor.
