Elkhorn man arrested after standoff at parents’ house

state-patrol-logoA 32-year old Elkhorn man is in custody after barricading himself in his parents’ home.

At approximately 3:00 a.m., Friday, Sept. 23, the Nebraska State Patrol responded to a residence in the 1600 block of North 175th Plaza in Elkhorn, after a female reported being assaulted by her husband.

The man identified as Jonathan L. Cone, 32, of Elkhorn, left the residence in the couple’s 2016 Dodge Journey before troopers arrived. Just after 5:00 a.m., Cone was located at his parents’ home at 20272 Pinkney Street, Elkhorn.

A perimeter was established and troopers attempted to make contact with Cone. Authorities advised staff at nearby Hillrise Elementary School of the situation. Additional resources from the Omaha Police Department (OPD)were requested.

OPD’s camera equipped bomb robot was brought to the scene. At approximately 7:30 a.m., troopers made entry into the home at which time the suspect voluntarily surrendered and was taken into custody without incident.

Cone was lodged in the Douglas County Corrections on charges to include 3rd-degree domestic assault and obstructing law enforcement operations.
