Mary Ernestine Creel, 86, of North Platte passed away October 3, 2016 at her home with her husband of 64 years at her side.
Mary Ernestine was born in North Platte June 27, 1930 to Ernest W. and Mary I. (McNeel) Miles. She moved to California with her family where her father worked at the shipyards. Mary Ernestine graduated high school in Oakland, Ca. She met Jack E. Creel while in California when he was discharged from the United States Navy. The two were married August 31, 1952 in Oakland, CA, and continued living in Oakland for a short while before moving to North Platte. Mary Ernestine took care of her home and raised her family.
She was a lifelong member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, belonged to the Catholic Daughters and the Red Hat Society. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Jack, of North Platte; children, James Creel, Carol Ann McKain, Julie Ann Perez, all of North Platte and Ann Marie (Mike) Richardson of Kearney; grandchildren, Miles (Tristan) and Jackson Creel, Laura McKain, Claire (Caleb) Snyder, John (Laurie) McKain, Jane (Joshua) Dye, Eric, Adam, James (Darriann), Lee (Mariana), Alan, and Luke Perez, Amanda Nelson, David (Aly) Schwenke, and Alex Schwenke; great-grandchildren, Haley McKain, Justin Helvie, Cohen Snyder, Maxwell Dye, Rex Dye, Leah McKain, Elli Perez, Kenzi Perez, Evan Perez, Olivia Perez, Bentley Brady, Elisha Schwenke, and Molly Nelson; and numerous other family members and friends.
Mary Ernestine was preceded in death by her parents; in-laws, Ben J. and Effie G. Creel; grandson, Luke McKain; brother, Terry (Peggy) Miles; sister, Virginia (Richard) Diener; and a nephew, Mick Diener.

Christian Wake Service will be 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 6, 2016 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 7, 2016 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with the Reverend C.P. Varghese as celebrant. Burial will follow in Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
