Rex Lee Forrester Sr., 77 of Maricopa, AZ (formerly of North Platte) passed away Sunday, September 18, 2016 at home with his loving brother Tom at his side.
Rex was born December 11, 1938 in Browning, MO to O.T. and Goldie (Shatto) Forrester. His family moved to North Platte in the early 40’s. Rex graduated from North Platte Sr. High with the class of 1957.
On May 14, 1961 he was united in marriage to Sally Sheets, and to this union three children were born, Rex Lee Jr., Jennifer Grace, and Patrick Dee.
On November 30, 1961 Rex was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving with the 4th US Army Co B 141st Sig Bn 1st AD in Ft Hood, TX. He was honorably discharged in November of 1963. After discharge he returned to North Platte and resumed his career as an electrician, working for Snell Electric for many years, and later working as an IBEW traveling electrician, before semi-retiring in 2004.
He was preceded in death by his parents O.T. and Goldie, a sister, Joeann ten Bensel; and brother-in-law Dr. Tom Ward.
He is survived by his wife, Carole, of Maricopa, AZ; a daughter Jennifer Grace (Todd) Hergenrader of North Platte; sons, Rex Lee Jr. (Sheila) Forrester of Lewellen, NE, and Patrick Dee (Tami) Forrester, of North Platte, step-sons, John, Gary, & Stephen Nye; brothers, O.T. Jr. “Tom” (Barb) Forrester of McAllen, TX, and Robert Forrester of North Platte; sisters, Mary Jane (Ralph) Anderson of North Platte, Peggy Ward of Des Moines, IA, and Phyllis (Larry) Ransdell of Omaha, NE; brother-in-law, Paul ten Bensel of Cambridge, NE; grandchildren, Ashley Forrester, Cory Hergenrader, Drew Hergenrader, Hannah (Rick) Dolan all of North Platte, Emma (Tony) Hipke, of Bradley, IL, and Grace Forrester, of North Platte,; great-grandchildren, Eddie Lee and Ella Rose Dolan, of North Platte; and many nephews and nieces.
Memorials are suggested to the Shriners and online condolences may be shared at www.adamsswanson.com.
Memorial graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 7, 2016 at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell. Those wishing to sign the register book may do so 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
