NPCC Lady Knights volleyball swept by No. 8 Central

NPCC Knights LogoColumbus – The North Platte Community College Lady Knights Volleyball continued their string of playing rated opponents, losing in three sets to the National Junior College Athletic Association No. 8 rated Central Community College Lady Raiders 25-14, 25-17, and 27-25.

Antonya Schaffert had nine kills to lead the Lady Knights. Shelby Wolever had 20 set assists. Jessica Eckhout added 13 defensive digs.

With the victory, the Lady Raiders are now 22-9 and clinch the number one seed in the Region IX Division II tournament which will be held in Beatrice on Oct 28-29. The Lady Raiders have beaten the Lady Knights and Southeast Community College twice for a 4-0 record. The Lady Knights are 1-2 and Southeast are 0-3. The Lady Knights and Southeast will play on October 18 to determine the number two seed.

The Lady Knights, now 9-20, will play Northeastern Junior College on Friday, Oct 14 at the McDonald-Belton Gymnasium at 7 p.m. The match is designated as “Pink Out” night to bring awareness to breast cancer research. All are encouraged to wear pink.

It is also “Girl Scout Night.” All scouts, leaders and their families will be admitted free into the match if wearing their girl scout uniform.
